Subliminal Valley is a media initiative at the intersection of tech and Black culture that celebrates Afrofuturism, entrepreneurship and Black arts. The initiative centers on the diary of a Black investor from MIT who shares his experience as an entrepreneur and as a Silicon Valley venture capitalist in today’s tech world.
Subliminal Valley’s goal is to highlight the richness of Black culture and its creative influence on the tech industry through the lenses of spoken-word and the phonetic aesthetic of word play while drawing on inspiration from MIT’s culture of entrepreneurship, Def Jam’s golden era of slam poetry and African American oral traditions.
Subliminal Valley showcases several artistic elements of what is known as the Black aesthetics. From spoken word and hip hop to illustration and visual arts, all the initiative’s projects highlight the beauty in Blackness while honoring the tech industry.
Subliminal Valley is produced by a collective of American entrepreneurs and investors who support the advancement of minorities in tech and in venture capital.
