Diary Entry 4 – The Rise
It was blood, sweat and Deer but you finally made it
Despite the challenges, you reached the summit of entrepreneurship
Climbed the rocky mountain in the valley and swept the sand on that hill
Turned your intoxicated dreams of conquering the Atlas
Into a much sober venture reality
I know how it feels cause I bounced on that venture beat too
After that horrible naked pod incident
I locked myself in a grey croft and that was a true catalyst
I sought the company of the force like a young Skywalker
My code was looking much better but there were still some minor issues
My Bro helped a bit, we took ten Gramm of B and fixed the Er messages
And to kill that frat vibe, I did include my wife Ellen in the project
She’s a great connector so she called some girls who could code
And one of them helped shape my team into a fortress
After pressuring atoms in my factory, I turned my rock into a Daymond
My MVP was so lit, it had me smoking cat food like an old Bone song
After creeping on a come up, I was finally made like Stephen Miao
It felt like a whole new me and it was time to engage the tech community
I was so ready to start booking that com, booking that, yeah
So I started enlisting my five arch angels:
Parker, Tom, Elle, Jack and his son
They were thrilled about the unveiling
The hunt for a product was finally over
We invaded the market on a weekend, I was a mad man on a mission
Oiled up like a super bowl of lemonade salad
With my 8 formidable partners in formation
It was on a Saturday night; our code went live
And that’s the day white VCs and founders turned black
We received so much brotherly love and positive feedback
Our revenue model was like a metaphor within a metaphor
It felt like a dream spinning in the right direction
A moment in time so freaking genius
That even Leonardo would’ve been proud of that inception
We acquired real customers and started enjoying the good venture life
Closing sweet deals in the Norwest
And watching 3rdRock from the sun in Boston
Driving an original musk-scented WhiteStar in England’s Capital
I was finally eating the cheese with my partners
Like a subliminal mouse with an extra $
There was still a lot of work on the table but our capital had some longitude
And that’s when it hitt me like a church bell falling on my head
Real opportunities only flow through congregation of real people
That philosophical revelation was completely hoff the charts, man:
When you are down and out
Make sure you reach out to those that really love you
They will ground you in reality while making insightful venture partners
But most importantly they will hold your hand when you need it the maust
I owe it all to Ellen, the apple of my eye rocking Saint John cologne
In this team of tech stars, my rose was the hostess with the mostest
So don’t forget to open your view to diversity and find the time to meditate
Because the VC will appear when the entrepreneur is ready.
